HushCall™ Messaging Consent
How users opt in, what messages we send, and how recipients opt out. This page documents the consent (opt-in) process for HushCall's emergency SMS and voice alerts.

What HushCall™ Is
HushCall™ is a personal-safety mobile application. On the home screen, it sits ready to trigger an emergancy safety alert. When the user opens the HushCall app, simply tapping "Start Emergency Alert" will start a 5-second countdown before automatically notifying the emergency contacts that the user has personally chosen — by an automated voice call and a text message containing a live map link to the user's location. It also activates the user's microphone to allow the trusted contacts hear what is happening in real-time.
Every message HushCall™ sends is:
- Opt-in: sent only to emergency contacts the user added themselves and confirmed they have permission to contact.
- User-initiated: sent only at the moment a user manually activates an alert — never recurring, scheduled, or automated.
- Non-marketing: strictly personal-safety alerts. We never send promotional content.
- Opt-out anytime: any recipient can reply STOP to stop receiving messages, or HELP for assistance.
How Consent (Opt-In) Is Collected
HushCall™ does not use keyword sign-ups, purchased lists, or mass marketing. Each text-message recipient opts in for themselves before HushCall™ will ever text them. Consent is collected directly from the recipient in one of two ways:
- The user installs HushCall™ and opens the in-app setup. Setup includes an "Emergency Contacts" screen where the user enters their own trusted contacts — a first name and a mobile phone number for each person they want notified in an emergency (for example, a family member, partner, or close friend).
- The user invites each contact to confirm. For every contact, the app provides a "Send confirmation text" button that opens the user's own Messages app with a short, personal message and a confirmation link. The invitation is sent person-to-person, from the user's own phone, to someone they personally know.
- The recipient opts in themselves. The recipient either (a) opens the confirmation link and ticks a consent box on HushCall's opt-in page, or (b) texts CONFIRM to HushCall's number (+1 888 759 1011). Only the recipient can complete this step.
- Consent is recorded per phone number. HushCall™ stores each recipient's opt-in (or opt-out) status on its server, keyed to that phone number.
- Text messages are sent only to recipients who have confirmed their opt-in, and only when the user activates an alert. (Emergency voice calls may still reach every saved contact — carrier consent rules govern text messaging, not phone calls — but no automated text is sent to anyone who has not opted in.)
What the Opt-In Step Looks Like
Inside the app, each emergency contact shows a status badge — Awaiting confirmation, Confirmed, or Opted out — so the user can see who has agreed to receive texts. A contact is only ever texted once their status is Confirmed. The confirmation link opens a HushCall™ opt-in page where the recipient enters their number, ticks an unchecked consent box, and confirms — and every recipient can reply STOP at any time to opt out.
What Messages Are Sent
When a user activates an alert, each emergency contact who has confirmed their opt-in receives a one-time safety text. A representative text message reads:
📍 Live map (follows their movement): https://hushcall.app/t/Ab12Cd34
In parallel, the contact may receive an automated voice call that states the user's name, indicates they may be in danger, and reads their location aloud. Messages contain no marketing and no third-party advertising.
Message Frequency
There is no fixed or recurring schedule. Frequency depends entirely on how often a user activates an emergency alert. For most users this is rare; messages are sent only in a genuine safety event the user triggers.
How to Opt Out
Recipients are always in control:
- Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe and stop receiving messages from this number.
- Reply HELP to receive help information.
- A user can also remove any contact at any time from within the app, which prevents future alerts to that person.
Message and data rates may apply, depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan.
Data & Privacy
Phone calls and text messages are delivered through Twilio, our communications processor. Account authentication and the secure storage of a user's profile, alert history, and audio recordings are handled through Google Firebase / Google Cloud. These providers act solely as data processors to deliver the service. This information is never sold and is never shared for advertising. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
